Wheeler and Company Submarine Berks, Navy Wins 9-2

READING, PA (Saturday, December 4, 2010) Navy took the wind out of conference opponent Penn State Berks' sails on Saturday night, stepping onto the Blue Lion's home ice and dominating from start to finish. The final score was 9-2.

Amidst the barrage of scoring, there were a few particulars that are noteworthy. Senior defenseman, a future submarine officer, Jon Wheeler did his fair share of work, registering a hat-trick in the game.

Sophomore Matt Lutch scored his first career goal for Navy Hockey as well, an event that was well deserved in return for his continuous hard work and tough nosed play for the Midshipmen over the past season and a half.

Lutch's classmate, Doug Dietrich, also got in on the action with an acrobatic goal on a shot from his stomach. As Dietrich was brought down to the ice, he athletically managed to bat the bouncing puck out of the air and turn it into a hard shot that he whizzed past the dumbfounded Penn State goaltender.

Senior Captain Sam Carlson put on quite a show as well, registering five total points, including one goal and four assists. In addition, another two points could have been awarded to Carlson if not for two questionable "wave-offs".  However, it was of little consequence as the physical contest was completely dominated by the Midshipmen.

Michael Orzetti scored for his third game in a row, picking up two goals, and Freshman Tom Krysil, who has had a hot hand, continued his productive streak with another goal.

The Mids have one final game before heading into the four week long winter break. They take on Temple University to kick off the Army-Navy football game weekend with a home game on Friday night, December 10, 2010 at 7:30PM.

The Mids, who have matured nicely as a team and are playing excellent hockey, are now 13-6-1 on the season.
