Navy Stands Strong at Home, Winning 6-3

ANNAPOLIS, MD (Friday, December 3, 2010) William Patterson University, a top-ranked AHCA Division 2 opponent, couldn’t stop Navy on Friday night and the Mids claimed another victory at home in convincing fashion by a score of 6-3.

Veteran goaltender Jamie Marshall registered another solid game in net for the Mids, turning aside 41 shots against the offensive minded WPU Pioneers. Game after game Navy's goaltenders have affirmed that the Mids have nothing to worry about in net, and Marshall's latest performance only solidifies that notion further.

On top of stellar goaltending, Navy had few problems lighting the lamp as they scored six goals, including an empty netter in the final seconds to cap off an offensive outburst in the third period.  Jim Tumolo, who scored his thirteenth of the season on a goal from Doug Dietrich and Steven Csutoros, raised his season point total to 30. Michael Orzetti scored for his second game in a row on a goal from Mitch Pulver and Sam Carlson. Freshmen Tom Krysil added two goals of his own, the first coming on the power play and the second coming from sheer hustle, as he beat out a defender and scored on a breakaway.  Tommy Reed added the fifth goal after receiving a beautiful cross-ice pass through the neutral zone from Krysil that put the game out of reach.  Senior Captain Sam Carlson added the exclamation point, scoring the empty netter.

The Midshipmen who are now 12-6-1 and 7-3-1 at home, will play their second game of the weekend on the road at Penn State Berks tomorrow at 5:00 PM.
