ABINGDON, MD (Friday, November 5, 2010). Navy seems to have no difficulty scoring these days. Playing on unfriendly ice, the Mids put on an offensive clinic, topping Towson 7-2.
Navy brought a constant and effective offensive onslaught to the ice, which forced Towson back on their heels. Outshooting their conference rivals 57-24, Navy improved their record to 9-5 overall and 5-2 in conference play. Tom Fick started things off with his goal just over midway into the period. Tom Krysil then picked up where Fick left off and added a second goal for Navy with just under seven minutes to go in the first. The Mids would go into the intermission leading 3-0 thanks to a goal by Jim Tumolo, who kept his goal scoring streak alive, now having scored eight games in a row.
The second period brought more of the same offensive attack, although admittedly less results. However, with 21 seconds to go in the second period, Mitch Pulver boosted the lead to 4 goals on a goal from Fick and Orzetti. Doug Dietrich added another goal to his quickly rising season total, scoring in his second consecutive game. To round things off, Steven Csutoros tacked on a goal, making that a goal a piece for the three linemates. Tom Reed finished things off with a one-timer goal in the slot from Liam Kearney and Rob VanWinter.
Navy won't have much of a chance to celebrate, however, as they get back to business on Saturday night, taking on the University of Maryland at McMullen Ice Arena at 7:30 PM.
