Navy is now 3-7 overall this season, while Adrian improved to 7-3.
The Mids are back in action Friday night (October 23) when they host Georgetown University at McMullen Arena at 7:30 p.m.
Adrian took a 1-0 lead Saturday night when Jeff LeRoy took a pass from behind the net and fired it into the upper corner of the net at 10:27. Navy evened the count at 1-1 just over a minute later when sophomore Shane Moran recorded the first goal of his USNA career at 11:53 following a face-off to the right of Bulldog goaltender Cody Krynock. But Adrian's Jared Semple tallied less than two minutes later, at 13:08, to give the black-and-gold clad visitors at 2-1 advantage after one period.
The two teams battled evenly for the first 13 minutes of the second stanza, but the Bulldogs stretched their lead to 3-1 at 13:56 when Spencer Jordan scored a "back door" goal while Navy was killing a penalty. Adrian's LeRoy scored on a hard wrist shot before the second period ended, at 18:51, to extend the advantage to 4-1.
The wheels came off the cart for the Mids in the third period, as the Bulldogs scored three more times -- the last one on a power play -- to pull away and earn the 7-1 triumph.
Senior netminder Eric Anderson turned in an MVP performance for the Midshipmen, recording 61 saves. His counterpart Krynock was credited with 19 saves as Adrian outshot Navy, 68-20.
Referee Doug Wood called a total of 11 penalties Saturday night, eight of those against the Mids.
