ANNAPOLIS , MD (Saturday, January 10, 2009) – The Navy Hockey team (12-14-2) continued their terrific 2009 campaign win a 5 to 2 win over the Drexel University Dragons (8-11-0).
The Midshipmen were led by their senior class and an amazing goaltending display by freshman Jameson Marshall.
Drexel jumped out to a quick lead with a power play goal by Zak Blazic but Navy’s Mitch Pulver tipped in an Andrew Ochalek blast from the point to tie the game. Drexel’s Eddie Decker answered one minute later. The rest of the game would be all Navy as they scored four unanswered goals over the final 30 minutes of the game. The goals were all scored by Navy Seniors who were not going to loss another game in that rink.
Navy’s Jameson Marshall finished with 19 saves as Navy outshot Drexel 32 to 21. Jameson Marshall was credited with changing the game with some of his spectacular saves.
The Navy Hockey team is back in action next weekend as they take on West Chester University on Friday night at home and then welcome Villanova on Saturday.
Charlie Daniel’s assist on Matt Swezey’s second goal was his 100th point in his Navy Hockey career. Interesting enough, Matt Swezey’s 100 point came on an assist on Charlie Daniel’s goal earlier this season.
