Thanksgiving Invitational Tournament-Day 2

ANNAPOLIS , MD (Saturday, November 29, 2008) – The #7 Iowa State University Cyclones netted two short handed goals on their way to a 5 to 2 victory over the Navy Hockey team (9-13-2) during the second day of the Thanksgiving Holiday Invitational Tournament.

Iowa State scored four unanswered goals until Navy’s Sam Carlson recorded a third period power play goal. In the final two minutes of the third, Iowa State and Navy traded goals to finish out the scoring. Goaltender Jeremey Estevez made 31 saves, as Navy was outshot 36 to 33.

With their win tonight, Iowa State has won the Thanksgiving Holiday Invitational Tournament because they own the tie breaker against both West Chester and Navy. The Midshipmen are back in action tomorrow as they host #8 West Chester at 3:30PM.

In the earlier game, #8 West Chester led by #8 Jim Gehring and #32 Pat Johnson defeated Washington & Jefferson by a score of 8 to 5.
